Except Javakheti tour includes trekking in Borjomi-Kharagauli national park – the biggest untouched forest in Europe.
Durring this tour tourists will visit also monuments included in UNESCO world heritage sights – Svetitskhoveli cathedral and Jvari monastery, Uplistsikhe, Rabati fortress in Akhaltsikhe, unique village Saro and Vardzia cave monastery complex,
Arrival to Tbilisi. After meeting we will travel to the West Georgia village Marelisi, in Kharagauli district. On the way we will visit ancient capital of Georgia – Mtskheta, the magor attractions here – Svetitskhoveli cathedral and Jvari monastery are included in UNESCO world heritage sites. Afterwards we will visit carved in the rock ancient town Uplistsikhe, which was spiritual center of eastern Georgia before Christianirty. Marelisi will be our first destination in Borjomi-Kharagauli national park. Here we will rest in guesthouse, enjoy dinner and prepare for hiking. Total driving distance arround 220 km.
After breakfast and checking equipment we will start hiking in Borjomi-Kharagauli national park, which is the biggest untouched forest in Europe. Our route goes from Imereti region to Samtskhe-Javakheti. Climate in those two regions is pretty different and difference is because the mountain range which divides them, and which we have to cross. So air on that side is pretty humid, and short rains are frequent. Distance today is 10 km and it will take up to 5 hours. Finishing hike at Sakhvlari tourist shelter.
After breakfast continue hike to Lomismta tourist shelter. Lomis mta translated as mountain of lion will be our highest point in this trek. Total distance 18 km and 7 hours. Overnight in tourist shelter. Highest point is 2100m.
Finishing trekking in national park. Today we will come down from Lomismta to village Likani rainger station. Distance 15 km, 5-6 hours. After finishing trek, transfer to our guesthouse in village Atskuri where hot shower and dinner will wait for us. Relax.
Today we will relax and enjoy rich cultural heritage of south Georgia. First of all we will visit Akhaltsikhe town, Rabati fortress and its museum. The fortress is dated back to IX century but was totally renovated less than 10 years ago and reminds of Ottoman rule in south Georgia. Next destination will be village Saro in 30 km from Akhaltsikhe. This place is not tourist hotspot but is very interesting because of its megalith fortress. Views from here are also amazing. Final destination on the other hand will be very famous touristic place – Vardzia monastery complex dated by XII century. Dinner and overnight in guesthouse nearby.
Today will be very interesting day, start of 2 day hiking in Abuli area. This trails are off beaten trek, very few tourists visit here, so there is luck of tourist infrastructure. We will start with lesser Abuli peak, (2700)m and visit Abuli megalith fortress on altitude 2500m. This is very misterious place, as noone has any clue who had built it and why. Current climat conditions make this place impossible to settle. Finishing trek on the other side of Samsari range, near lake Paravani. Here setteling in guesthouse.
Today we will climb highest point in Javakheti plateau- Great Abuli mountain – 3000. It is former volcano as lesser Abuli. On the way see some small lakes. Return to the guesthouse.
After breakfast return to Tbilisi.
