Skiing in Gudauri

Gudauri – growing in recent years, a mountain resort on the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains in Georgia, charms visitors great opportunities for recreation in the mountains, amazing scenery and friendly atmosphere. The resort is located near the Cross Pass (2379 m above sea level) and 43 km from the second highest peak in Europe – Mount Kazbegi (5047 m) Gudauri located on a small plateau at an altitude of 1900 – 2200 meters above sea level along the Military Georgia’s roads, 120 km from Tbilisi.

The resort infrastructure is already quite saturated – now here is the 25 hotels, 5 multi-family houses, cottages and gesthauses , there are several restaurants , an indoor swimming pool, two indoor tennis courts, two bowling alleys for , saunas, baths , ATMs, currency exchange and a few small night clubs . Lifeguard, instructors , heliski and freeride guides , there are children’s ski school, equipment rental.

Winter season in Gudauri starts in December and lasts until end of March, the average thickness of snow cover in winter reaches 1.5 meters. Resources resort is still not used even half: huge areas to ski can accommodate as many as 15,000 Boarders and / or cross-country skiers. Therefore the most important asset Gudauri still unlimited opportunities to free ride , heliski and no queues at the lifts .

Pistes

Total length of 12 pistes is 25 km. Highest point is on mountain Sadzele – 3 250 m, lowest – 2050 м. So difference of elevations on the resort is 1200 meters. Friride pistes can’t be measured – there are huge number of slopes around Gudauri, which gives hundreds of variations for freeriders. 

Pistes are cleaned regularly. The longest piste is 7 km. There is also slalom’s pistes. Cable ways work from 10 to 16 o’clock.

– Second length 2310 m.

– Third length 1060 m.

– Forth length 1104 m.

– Fifth length 1300 m.
