Day 1

Arrival to Kutaisi. Meeting in the Airport, transfer to the city. (Depends on arrival time, if it is morning or noon, then excursion in Kutaisi will be on the same day, if evening or early morning, then days 1 and 2 will be merged). Kutaisi city tour: historical city center – white bridge, the first gymnasium, concert hall, city park, central square with fountain inspired by ancient Kolkhida arts, optionally – Kutaisi synagogue, museum of history, central market, where are sold national spices and sweets, chain bridge, and of course Bagrati cathedral – winner of the nomination as the best reconstructed historical monument. Optional: Festival dinner in the restaurant.


Day 2

After breakfast excursion to the Prometheus grotto, where tourists will enjoy magnificent views of stalagmites and stalactites. Optionally visit Sataplia natural reserve where is endemic kolchus forest and footprints of dinosaurs. After short drive visit Gelati monastery complex, dated by XII century, is included into UNESCO world heritage sites. Optionally visit Motsameta monastery. Afterwards excursion to the open air archaeological museum – ancient city Vani – one of the centers of ancient kingdom Kolchus. Free evening. Dinner and overnight in guesthouse.


Day 3

After breakfast travel to the resort town in east Georgia – Borjomi. On the way visit Ubisa monastery of XI century. Visit resort town Borjomi – famous because its mild climate, deep forests and mineral water. Borjomi is one of the most popular resort in Georgia since XIX century. From here starts the biggest national park of Georgia – Borjomi-Kharagauli national park. Walk in famous Borjomi park and taste mineral water. Visit Borjomi museum of history and ethnography. Continue journey to village Atskuri. Visit Atsuri fortress and church ruins. Dinner and sleep in Atskuri guesthouse.


Day 4

After breakfast continue travel the center of the region Samtskhe-Javakheti. Visit renovated Rabati fortress in Akhaltsikhe, Sapara monastery dated by XIV century, Village Saro where visitors will see unique megalith fortresses built in bronze age and Khertvisi fortress – enjoy magnificent panoramas of lesser Caucasus mountains. Dinner and sleep in farmhouse near Vardzia.


Day 5

After breakfast visit Vardzia cave monastery complex dated by XII century. Vanis Kvabebi cave complex, dated by VIII century. Travel to Tbilisi via Javakheti plateau. Free evening in Tbilisi. Optional – festival dinner in Tbilisi restaurant, with folk show.

Tbilisi city tour


Day 7

Travel to Kutaisi. On the way excursions to Mtskheta – visit Jvari monastery and Svetitskhoveli cathedral. Both they beling to UNESCO world heritage sites. Continue travel to Gori and visit Uplistsikhe – ancient town, carved on the rock, dated by VI century BC. Dinner and overnight in Kutaisi
