Kakheti tour for two days covers:

Day 1

The first destination of Kakheti tour is one of the well known historical monuments of east Georgia – David Gareja monastery complex. Monastery complex was founded in VI century, and during middle ages used to be an important religious and cultural center. In touristic routes are included two monasteries of the complex – Lavra, and Udabno caves. On the road to Signagi there are nice restaurants, were the group may stay for lunch. Bodbe monastery – founded on the place where according to most historical sources died st. Nino, convertor of Georgia. Currently it is nunnery. Signagi – town founded in XVIII century as the center of south Kakheti region. It is popular tourism destination, because of its location – on the Gombori range, from where is picturesque view to Alazani valley and great Caucasus range and also because its original architecture. In Signagi there are many restaurants, casino, wine cellar – “Peasant’s tears”, where tourists can taste wines and learn a lot about wine making traditions of Georgia and school and exhibition of hand made carpets. Dinner and overnight in Signagi.

Day 2

After breakfast drive to the north of Kakheti – archaeological site and monastery Nekresi, which stands on the top of the hill, and from where is picturesque view of Alazani valley. Oldest buildings of monastery are dated VI century. Gremi historical complex – museum and fortress. Ikalto monastery was founded in VI century, after one century there was opened seminary and in XII century, by order of King David the Builder seminary was transformed into academy where was the first department of wine making in the world. Town Telavi – Capital of Kakheti, little town with big food market located on the slope of Gombori range, with views to Alazani valley and nice place to walk and rest before long road to Tbilisi. Old Telavi is a very interesting place. Here Kakheti tour ends. Road back to Tbilisi.
